Thoresby Park, Nottinghamshire – 15th & 16th June 2024 – The Sherwood Forest Trust proudly marked the 10th anniversary of its renowned Woodland Festival, held this year for the first time at the picturesque Walled Garden of Thoresby Park on June 15th and 16th. Despite the challenges of a new venue, the event was a resounding success, drawing enthusiastic crowds to celebrate the rich heritage of woodland crafts and activities.

Saturday’s festivities were met with wet weather, but that did not dampen the spirits of the participants and attendees. The rain gave way to a sunny and vibrant Sunday, which saw even larger crowds eager to partake in the diverse range of activities and demonstrations.

The festival showcased an array of traditional crafts and skills, including spoon carving, wheelwrighting, medieval reenactments, willow weaving, archery, and axe throwing. Visitors of all ages enjoyed hands-on experiences with forest school activities and pottery throwing, immersing themselves in the unique blend of history and nature that the Woodland Festival is known for.

“We are thrilled with the turnout and the positive feedback from our visitors,” said Jessica Smith Launay, Marketing and Communications Officer of the Sherwood Forest Trust. “Transitioning to Thoresby Park presented its own set of challenges, but the beauty and history of the Walled Garden made it a perfect setting for our milestone 10th anniversary. We’re already looking forward to planning the 11th edition of the festival at this stunning location.”

The Sherwood Forest Trust extends its gratitude to all the traders, entertainers, and visitors who made the festival memorable. The success of this year’s event highlights the community’s strong support and enthusiasm for preserving and celebrating woodland heritage.

Planning for the next Woodland Festival at Thoresby Park is underway, promising even more exciting activities and demonstrations. Stay tuned for updates and join us in continuing this cherished tradition.
