We’re a small Nottinghamshire charity, independent of any political or commercial links. We’re not part of any larger national charity.
We are the only charity 100% focussed on Sherwood Forest – not just the present day Sherwood Forest National Nature Reserve, but the wider landscape that once formed the Royal hunting forest of Sherwood.
We help conserve and improve neglected fragments of heathland and woodland scattered throughout this area.
We promote and celebrate the heritage and legend that connects and inspires its modern communities.

Every summer, the Woodland Festival brings thousands of families together to explore, learn, and celebrate Sherwood Forest. From hands-on activities and woodland crafts to performances and walks, most of the festival is completely free to enjoy.
Your support helps us keep the festival free, fund inspiring activities, and continue vital conservation work across Nottinghamshire. By donating or becoming a sponsor, you’re helping future generations connect with and care for this special forest and the nature on their doorstep.

Partnering with us is an opportunity to support lasting change in one of the world’s most iconic forests. A forest that is a fraction of its size and desperately needs our help.
Whether your business wants to plant trees alongside local schools, fund training for young people in conservation and land management, or help bring communities together through our woodland festival – we’ll match you with a project that reflects your values and creates lasting impact.
You can also support our seed bank and tree nursery, which plays a vital role in restoring native woodland. By focusing on growing hyper-local tree species, we help protect the genetic diversity of the forest, strengthen habitats, and support the wildlife that depends on them. We rely on our amazing volunteers every week, whether it is helping us manage heathland or getting stuck in at our community tree nursery, the Sherwood Seedbank. Or do you enjoy woodcrafts, putting up marquees or meeting people at outdoor events? We may have just the volunteer role for you.

Corporate work parties of up to 15 especially welcome – your company covers our costs, and we provide all tools, supervision and instruction.
