On Friday 23rd May, 30 people joined the Sherwood Forest Trust for a bat walk through Vicar Water Country Park—part of this year’s Walk Notts Festival.
Led by Graeme Turner and Isaac from Newark and Sherwood District Council, the walk offered a chance to explore the park and discover bats using bat detectors. Families and nature lovers of all ages tuned in to the ultrasonic world of pipistrelles and noctules, with many spotted darting above the water and weaving between the trees.
“One of the best things we’ve done for ages! We saw so many bats and the guys who were leading the walk were so knowledgeable and made it fun!” said attendee and East Bridgford Parish Councillor, Penny Storr.
The event was very informative and friendly with plenty of opportunities to ask questions and learn. Everyone left with a smile and a new appreciation for these fascinating creatures.
Thank you to everyone who came along, and to our brilliant partners who helped make the evening such a success.
Keep an eye out for more guided walks and nature events coming soon!
