We’re excited to share a lovely update from Little Allotment Wood in East Bridgford, where one of Sherwood Forest Trust’s community-grown oak saplings now has pride of place. Planted in the spring, this young Sherwood oak is thriving, thanks to the care of the local parish council and the East Bridgford Scouts, who helped with its planting.
The tree was grown at the Sherwood Forest Trust’s Community Tree Nursery, a project supported by Newark and Sherwood District Council. This initiative aims to restore native woodlands by growing and planting local tree species. The survival of this oak through the summer is a testament to the importance of community involvement and care in preserving our natural heritage.
We look forward to watching this oak grow into a proud symbol of Sherwood’s lasting legacy.
