We’ve got some very exciting news from Sherwood’s Community Tree Nursery.
We’ve officially passed our Plant Healthy audit, which means the nursery is now Plant Healthy certified!
Plant Healthy certification recognises the work we’re doing to look after the health of our trees and reduce the risk of introducing and spreading harmful pests and diseases. It shows that we’re following recognised best practice when it comes to plant health and biosecurity, giving our customers and suppliers confidence in the trees we grow.
What is even more exciting, we can now sell the trees we grow at the nursery.
This is a really important step for us as we continue to grow the Community Tree Nursery and increase the number of native, locally grown trees we can supply across Sherwood and Nottinghamshire.
The nursery grows species such as Oak, Hawthorn, Birch, Willow, and many more, which are all available for you to purchase.
A huge well done is also due to Izzy, our Community Tree Nursery Officer, who has put a massive amount of time and hard work into getting us Plant Healthy certified. From developing our processes and keeping everything in order to getting the nursery ready for the audit, it’s been a huge amount of work, so, a very well deserved thank you to Izzy.
With our nursery expanding and now being Plant Healthy certified, we can look forward to growing more trees, supplying more local planting projects and getting even more Sherwood grown trees out into the landscape.
We are also incredibly thankful to Greenwood Community Forest, part of Nottinghamshire County Council, who have supported us in this step for the benefit of good quality local tree supply for the whole county.
