We are delighted to welcome Rachel Rattray, who will be joining us for a year-long placement at Sherwood Forest Trust. This exciting opportunity has been made possible by the Royal Forestry Society and ALA Green Charitable Trust, who are funding her training as part of their Forestry Roots programme which provides support to students to enable them to pursue their career aspirations and develop future forestry professionals. This collaboration allows us to nurture new talent while continuing our conservation work. 

Over the next year, Rachel will work alongside our team on a range of conservation and restoration projects. She’ll gain valuable hands-on experience in managing and protecting ancient woodlands, helping us preserve Sherwood Forest for future generations. Her role will support our efforts to maintain this important habitat for wildlife and the community. She is eager to start chainsaw and tractor training to help look after our threatened heathlands.
