Andy Jeffcutt
Chair
Andy Jeffcutt
HR Project Manager at Orsted, a renewable energy developer/operator.
The Trust is a great match with my personal interests; I love being outdoors in the natural environment and I have a passion for local history. I am also a regular visitor to the forest, either on foot or by bicycle. I wanted to get involved to help protect and promote Sherwood.
I am most enthusiastic about the restoration of natural habitat, as it can very quickly create a tangible positive impact for wildlife. I am also passionate about our work to connect people with nature and the positive impact this can have on human health & wellbeing.
Carl Cornish
Senior Business Conservation Adviser, RSPB-Cemex Partnership
With an MPhil in conservation, I began my career as an ecological consultant, focusing on protected species mitigation. In 2002, I joined Notts Wildlife Trust as a Conservation Officer, later moving to the RSPB in 2010, where I worked on landscape-scale projects, including Sherwood Forest. I also served as a Project Manager at RSPB before becoming the Senior Business Conservation Adviser for the RSPB-Cemex Partnership in October 2024, supporting biodiversity efforts across UK Cemex sites.
Since 2022, I’ve been a member of the Ancient Tree Forum’s Technical Advisory Panel. I am a Chartered Environmentalist and a Full Member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Managers.
I’ve collaborated with the Sherwood Forest Trust through my RSPB role and support their conservation efforts, particularly habitat protection and the Tree Nursery. I contributed to the Green Recovery bid, staff recruitment, and encouraged the Trust to lead the State of Nature in Sherwood report, for which I also wrote sections.
Robert Bealby
Local farmer at J.Bealby & Sons Ltd. Farming company since 1946.
I have been involved with the Sherwood Forest Trust since the very early days, and as a very active member of the National Farmers’ Union, was put forward to represent farming and make sure that farmland is preserved from too many trees planted. I think heathland is the most important part of Sherwood Forest and needs our support.
Dawn Spence
Trustee
Dawn Spence
Local Parish Councillor and community volunteer.
I’ve spent much of my career supporting people — from working in healthcare and counselling to helping patients connect with outdoor activities and community groups. I’m passionate about the role that nature plays in health and wellbeing, and I’ve enjoyed volunteering with the Sherwood Seedbank and local gardening projects.
Joining the Trust combines my love of community and commitment to improving local green spaces. I’m particularly enthusiastic about helping others discover the benefits of being outdoors, whether through tree planting, allotments, or community gardening.
Colin Bower
Trustee
Colin Bower
Director of Geoff Bower Ltd.
Farming and wildlife is very important to me. At our farm we’ve planted kilometres of new hedgerow, introduced scrub for nesting birds, and manage our woodland in an effort to do what is best for nature.
I wanted to join the Trust because Sherwood is close to my heart, both as a landscape and a community. I am especially passionate about supporting farmland wildlife, enhancing hedgerows, and bringing farmers together to protect and restore our shared countryside.

Tim Hill
Trustee
Tim Hill
Retired Forester
I have worked for the Woodland Trust, Thoresby Estate, and set up my own woodland management company. During my time as a Woodward at Thoresby, I became closely involved with the Sherwood Forest Trust. The work on the Neutral Ground in Sherwood Forest builds on a project I initiated in early 2000’s whilst at Thoresby.
I joined the trustees as I am keen to support the Sherwood Forest Trust in an advisory capacity, as well as having a strong synergy with my other role as a trustee of the Ancient Tree Forum. The work on the Neutral Ground in Sherwood Forest builds on a project I initiated in early 2000’s whilst at Thoresby,
I am passionate about supporting the heathland and acid grass restoration, ancient tree recording, recognition and management, and working with local schools.

Jen Turner
Trustee
Jen Turner
Development Manager at the Royal Forestry Society.
Studied ecological consultancy project management and tendering. Worked at the RSPB as a fundraiser/project manager, where I worked on Sherwood projects including the ‘new’ visitor centre and the Miner to Major partnership. Moved to work at the RFS as Development Manager in 2017 and love the autonomy of working for a small charity that has big impact.
I love Sherwood’s ecology and the community engagement with history and culture of Sherwood Forest.

Louise Hackett
Trustee
Louise Hackett
Sherwood Treescape Lead at the Woodland Trust
I have over 15 years experience in woodland and tree conservation, specialising in ancient woodland restoration and ancient trees.
Sherwood Forest Trust is an inspiring local organisation I wanted to support further in a personal capacity and not just professional. As I was new to area at the time, it was also a great way to learn more about Sherwood.
I am passionate about nature conservation and inspiring our community about how special Sherwood is as a landscape. I have supported the development of conservation related funding bids, such as the successful Severn Trent Water bid, and ongoing advice for the tree nursery. I’ve also put SFT forward as recommendation for contracts such as overseeing the production of the State of Nature in Sherwood report, commissioned by Sherwood Habitat Startegy Group.

John Peck
Trustee
John Peck
Edwinstowe Parish Councillor
Former Headteacher and National Executive member the National Association of Headteachers, former magistrate, District and County Councillor.
I volunteered to represent the local community as a member of Edwinstowe Parish Council, as I have had a long standing interest in the preservation of Sherwood Forest and environmental issues in general.
I am most interested in the Sherwood Forest Trust’s Tree planting and heathland restoration projects. In particular, to support the creation of a Sherwood Forest Regional Park, having been an established board member and advocate whilst on the County Council.

Erin Baker
Trustee
Erin Baker
Lead Clinical Psychologist in Cancer at Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust
I have worked in the NHS nearly my entire career and have been a Clinical Psychologist for over 10 years. I have worked in various areas of mental health but now specialise in working with individuals coping with the psychological impact of cancer.
I have been interested in the psychological benefits of being outdoors for some time and with Sherwood Forest on our doorstep it’s the perfect outdoor space to visit. When I heard that Sherwood Forest Trust wanted to invest and promote the wellbeing benefits of the forest, I was keen to support them. Getting support for your mental health can be a difficult thing to do, accessing the outdoors on the other hand, is open to all and free! It’s the perfect place to care for your own psychological and physical health. I hope, that as a Trustee I can help encourage more people to use Sherwood Forest to look after their wellbeing and make the most of this glorious natural sanctuary we are lucky enough to have.Just like nature looks after us, it’s important we look after it as well so I’m also really proud of the conservation achievements of the Trust.
Sherwood Forest Trust is collaborating with local NHS providers and I look forward to supporting this work. Watch this space!
