Nature

Our charity doesn’t own land. We want to help others that do. We give advice on land management, we manage a few nature reserves, we work with community groups and councils. We don’t want to rule the world, we want to make it a better place. And we enjoy getting hands on.

Sherwood Forest has had centuries to become an amazing landscape.

It has ancient areas such as the Sherwood Forest Country Park and national Nature Reserve that is now run by the R.S.P.B., ‘new’ wildlife reserves that have grown up (with a helping hand from Nottinghamshire County Council Green Estates team) from the colliery spoil heaps that once were very visible, especially around the northern area of Notts.

Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust also has nature reserves and other projects that you can visit, help manage and get involved with. NWT also respond to planning and development issues and have an offshoot company named the
East Midlands Environmental Consultancy (EMEC)  that helps with wildlife surveys and the like.
