Major Oak Woodland Festival

The Major Oak Woodland Festival 2018

9th & 10th June 2018 – Sherwood Forest Country Park, NG21 9HN

Hear ye Hear ye, Oyez. Good People of The Shire and far beyond, we announce the mind-blowing, majestical, magnificence of the Sherwood Major Oak Woodland Festival…

Spread the word so the people may flock to this celebration of the finest ancient woodland, its people and its heritage. We join with Nottinghamshire County Council to present “Major Oak Woodland Festival”, a weekend of entertainment and education.   Watch, admire and even try your hand at traditional country crafts, all in the beautiful woodland setting of ancient Sherwood Forest.

Meet bodgers, Windsor chair makers, charcoal producers, wood turners, knife smiths, wooden toy and furniture makers, archaeologists, conservation organisations, Friends of Groups, charities and the Wild Man of the Woods. There will also be modern day forestry machinery demonstrations and Shire horses, showing how timber was extracted in a bygone era.

If you’re a woodworker, enjoy chatting to fellow crafts people and enthusiasts, and maybe buy a few new tools or blanks.  If you know nothing about woodland crafts – watch and learn, or have a go.  You’re sure to go home inspired!

This event is family, pushchair and wheelchair friendly.  Admission is free.  Car parking £3 per car.  Dogs welcome, but must be on the lead please.

Please note:
The above demonstrators and activities may be subject to change.
